A Visionary and Responsive Government
Nelson Mandela once said: “The most powerful weapon is not violence but it is talking to the people.” We believe this to be true and will employ this as a strategy. A KENYA COMMUNITY ALLIANCE MOVEMENT (KUCA) government will be a LISTENING, VISIONARY, AND RESPONSIVE GOVERNMENT that stays in touch with its people and does not leave them behind.
Our people are feeling hopeless and have never seen this level of disenfranchisement and despair—all because the current government has governed far away from its people. We will immediately seek ways to empower our citizens and rebuild stronger communities for a strong Republic of Kenya.
Citizenship Empowerment
Kenya enjoys a strong heritage and culture that we can be proud of. However, too many continue to say that we have no culture because we have not been doing the best job at preserving, showcasing, and passing it on from generation to generation. KUCA believes that knowing who we are and instilling a sense of pride from this knowledge is key to the best future for our country.
To achieve this, a KUCA government will:
- Re-establish the Heritage and Cultural Commission to lead in the development of a Policy and Strategic Plan.
- Introduce the teaching of Civics at all educational levels.
Participation in Governance as a Tool of Empowerment
KUCA believes that within Kenya lie the answers to the myriad of challenges we face as a people. A government that talks to and consults with its people governs best. A KUCA government will see that its people are key partners in this country’s development and will keep them informed and involved through:
- Town Hall Meetings
- Freedom of Information initiatives
- Quarterly Press Conferences
Home Ownership as a Tool of Empowerment
KUCA believes that home ownership and its protection is key to empowering our people. To this end, KUCA will introduce policies that ensure affordable housing and protect homeowners' rights.
Social Safety Net and Services
A KUCA government believes that the way a country treats its vulnerable is very telling of who it is. No government of the people should ignore the unique needs of special groups, including:
- The elderly
- Physically and mentally challenged citizens
- Those living below the poverty line
KUCA will ensure that these groups receive the support they need through targeted social safety net programs and services.
Community Empowerment Initiatives
A KUCA government will strengthen communities throughout Kenya in its effort to build a stronger country. Specifically, KUCA will:
- Re-establish communities through a Ministry with direct responsibility.
- Promote national volunteerism through community programs.
- Create green spaces and parks to enhance quality of life.
- Establish Neighborhood Watch Programs to improve safety.
- Support Single Parent Programs, particularly focusing on After School Support for children in communities.
- Ensure that basic infrastructure supports well-lit, clean, safe, and strong communities.
- Provide recreational facilities for all citizens.
- Support and help build strong families through targeted programs.
