Transparency and Open for Business
A KENYA COMMUNITY ALLIANCE MOVEMENT (KUCA) government will have confidence in the economic viability of the country. We will reposition Kenya as “Open for Business.” Our approach will be growth-oriented, business-friendly, and transparent.
To achieve this, we will:
- Create a Business Liaison Sector to ensure swift responses from government departments.
- Reduce red tape and streamline work permit processing timelines.
- Promote social responsibility among businesses while reducing unnecessary costs.
Repositioning the Economy for Growth
Within the first 100 days, a KUCA government will re-establish Team TCI, comprising members of both the public and private sectors, to market Kenya globally with the message: “OPEN FOR BUSINESS.” Fresh investments will be sought to reposition the economy for sustainable growth.
Key initiatives include:
- Hosting the first Annual Economic Summit to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors.
- Unlocking access to capital for small businesses, particularly those owned by youth and women.
- Cutting unnecessary regulatory burdens that hinder entrepreneurship.
- Providing incubators, mentoring, and training to young entrepreneurs and small-business owners.
Reviving Dormant Development Projects
A careful review will be conducted on suspended development projects. Once legal issues are resolved, feasibility assessments will be carried out, and necessary support will be provided to restart and complete these projects. This will create new jobs, accommodations, and revenue streams for the country.
Additionally, a KUCA government will:
- Promote local ownership and operation of small businesses within major developments.
- Sponsor local music production, marketing, and distribution.
- Leverage technology to improve efficiency and service delivery to residents.
Diversification of the Economy
A KUCA government will diversify the economy by promoting both new and traditional sectors:
- Financial Services: Fast-track legislation to encourage growth and ensure efficient regulation.
- Manufacturing and Production: Provide incentives and policies to attract new entrants.
- Fishing Industry: Conduct comprehensive reviews, enhance protection against poaching, and brand export products globally.
- Agriculture: Secure grants, promote local farming, and provide training and resources to farmers.
- Construction and Music: Support legislative frameworks to ensure growth and protection for local industries.
Sustainable Tourism
Tourism will remain a key pillar of Kenya’s economy. However, a KUCA government will focus on diversifying the tourism product and ensuring sustainable practices.
Initiatives include:
- Updating the National Tourism Strategic Plan within 100 days of taking office.
- Establishing a Sustainable Tourism Committee to guide development.
- Promoting community-based tourism and heritage programs.
- Enhancing aviation connectivity, particularly with BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China).
- Exploring opportunities in sports tourism, health and wellness tourism, and cultural safaris.
Revenue Reform
A KUCA government will review and reform revenue collection to create steadier streams of income, reduce the cost of living, and lower the cost of doing business. New and innovative revenue streams will be introduced to support economic growth.
