Vision for Youth Empowerment
The Kenya United Communities Alliance (KUCA) envisions a society where youth have equal opportunities as other citizens to realize their full potential, participating productively in economic, social, political, cultural, and religious engagements equitably.
It is time for the incoming government to commit to addressing young people's demands. As political promises are made during the upcoming Kenyan elections, key actors must listen to and identify the most pressing needs of this generation. Fundamental issues, ideas, and recommendations were raised on subjects like unemployment, training, and public participation.
Social Welfare Initiatives
To promote youth involvement in agriculture, KUCA will:
- Involve youth in agro-produce, value addition, and livestock market exploitation.
- Provide agricultural inputs, machinery, and equipment to motivate youth to venture into agriculture and green jobs.
- Organize annual agricultural training and expos for youth at the county level.
- Modernize agriculture by adopting climate-smart technology and innovation.
Additionally, KUCA will strengthen local-level credit guarantee schemes targeting youth and enhance financial literacy through SACCOs, Chamas, and producer cooperatives.
Sports and Creative Economy
KUCA will increase financial support for sports and the creative economy by:
- Increasing funding for the Sports, Art, and Social Development Fund by at least 25%.
- Establishing modern sporting facilities at the county and national levels.
- Streamlining sports regulations to ensure equitable participation regardless of gender, ethnicity, income, or disability.
A mechanism will be established to train, equip, and monetize the sports and creative economy, using sport for civic engagement at all community levels.
Youth Representation and Inclusion
KUCA will ensure systematic coordination of the youth function by:
- Allocating 30% of political movement funding to youth leagues and capacity-building programs.
- Advocating for 50% of movement list slots and nominees to be reserved for youth.
- Forming a stand-alone Youth Department at the county, sub-county, and ward levels.
- Creating a stand-alone Ministry for Youth Development at the Office of the President.
